What are vertebrae?

 Vertebrae are the bones in your back that fit together so the nerve supply produced in your brain can filter down your spinal cord and out over your nerves. The nerves are responsible for communicating information throughout your body so the the proper growth, repair, and healing can take place. When vertebrae are out of their natural alignment, the potential for nerve interference is great.

Chiropractors and Nerves

When people talk about what chiropractors do, they usually say they work on bones, or maybe the muscles in the spinal area.  That is true, but what many don’t realize is that chiropractors also work on the nerves contained in the spinal column that send messages throughout your entire body.

Spine and Nerves Work Together

From the brain, nerves pass down the spinal cord and out to different parts of the body.  The nerves leave the spinal cord through the vertebrae, which are the openings between the spinal bones. Since the entire body is under control of the nervous system, when the vertebrae are out of alignment it can disturb normal functions throughout the body.
