Learning Disorders

There is more hope than ever before for children with learning disabilities.  There are several types of professionals parents can turn to, but sometimes there is conflicting information which can become confusing!

What Can Chiropractic Do?

There are so many positive results reported on the effectiveness of chiropractors caring for hyperactive children or those with learning disorders. The Texas State Chiropractic Association worked with the director of Psychoeducational and Guidance Services of College Station, Texas, on research studies. Of the 10,000 students referred to him, the ones that had received chiropractic care seemed to show the most benefits.

Case Studies

Here are some examples of case studies obtained from the source listed below:

  • “A high school student on 20mg. Ritalin and Dilantin. She was non-motivated, negative, passive, nonverbal, and failing in high school work despite placement in special classes. After chiropractic adjustments the student was taken off Ritalin, began talking an expressing herself, and showed improved reading comprehension and reading speed.
  • An elementary student who had been diagnosed by numerous clinics as minimallly brain damaged, retarded and/or suffering from neurological dysfunction. He also suffered from severe emotional problems. After chiropractic he showed great improvement in self-confidence. He began to take part in public speaking in school. Mentail ability tests indicated that the student was at normal grade level except for deficiencies in reading.” (Koren, Tedd, D.C., Learning Disorders and Chiropractic, Koren Publications, Inc., 1991).
